Discover the lost voices of Rome’s northern frontier.

I'm Catherine, a doctoral researcher who brings the people of Hadrian's Wall back to life on the very ground where they lived.

I'm not here to march you eighty-four miles; I'm here to help you slow down, hear the lost stories hidden within objects displayed behind glass, and help you to discover this extraordinary place in a way that’s most impactful for you. Whether you want a private tour, a guide to explore on your own, or a bespoke visit for your group or class, I’m here for you.

Choose your starting point:

Private/Family Tours

Meet an active local researcher and get a private tour of museums/sites of your choosing. Learn the stories stones can’t tell you and discover how to uncover the voices of the people who built, lived along and prayed on Rome’s northern frontier.

Your tour is a bespoke experience, tailored to your interests. Available for singles, couples and family groups visiting the Wall. Half/full day and single-site options available.

Group Tours

Academic expertise made accessible for your group tour along Hadrian’s Wall. I will accompany you on your trip or meet you at your chosen sites, providing bespoke tours and bringing artefacts and archaeology to life.

Prior to your tour, I am happy to act as a tour planning consultant and can design your itinerary, transport and accommodation options.

My speciality is in offering themed tours (e.g. on Roman Religion, Everyday Life on Hadrian’s Wall, or the Life of the Soldier) which help create a coherent story across different sites. For schools, I offer tours which tie into the national curriculum for various different ages/levels.

Self-Guided Tours and Activity Packs

Downloadable PDFs will soon be available on my website, giving you the freedom to tour sites along the wall at your own pace, without missing out on academic expertise.

Children’s tours are specific itineraries which highlight artefacts and locations particularly appealing to a young (or young-at-heart!) imagination, educating children with depth of research at an appropriate age level. They include interactive trails, quizzes and “spotting” activities.
